2007

Synopsis

In 2007, LOSSA was comprised of 18 teams organized into three divisions: Powers, Mazza and Hiron Divisions, of which HT was in the Hiron Division.

For the first time in school history, the Holy Trinity Titans have defeated their crosstown rivals. The offensive star of the game for the 2-0 Titans was Bill Cramp who tallied all three majors. Richard Fanning completed the scoring with a punt that sailed through the end zone. Bowmanville, in two regular season games, has only managed to tally one point. The win enables Holy Trinity to remain in a tie for first place in the Mazza Division with the surprising Port Perry Rebels.

The Port Perry prevailed over Holy Trinity to move into first place in the Hiron Division. Both teams were tied with 2-1 records. The Rebels with Matt McEwan handling the QB assignment for a third consecutive year at the Senior level (he is only in Grade 11) have been one of the biggest surprises in LOSSA football this season and they need to only win one of their two remaining games (against Clarington and Courtice who have combined for only one win) to reach the "A" pool playoffs. Holy Trinity will play Brock in week five with the winner holding the upper edge in the battle for second place within the division. (from DurhamRegion.com)

In a game featuring the two teams most likely to capture the second and final "A" pool berth in the Hiron Division, the Holy Trinity Titans found themselves trailing by a 10-0 score early in the game against Brock. The Titans would then score 31 unanswered points to win in a convincing manner. The three touchdown difference was in part due to the fact that Brock's tandem of Jesse Sale and Ryley Flindall were not in uniform. Sale is injured and Flindall was declared academically ineligible for failing to meet the schools stringent academic requirements. Kema Nnawuchi led the Titan come from behind victory with two touchdowns. (from DurhamRegion.com)

The Courtice Cougars, who had allowed 175 points against in their first five games of the season, held the “A” pool bound Titans to only four points (two safeties) in the opening quarter. The Titans would finally score a couple of majors in the second quarter and an early third quarter outburst put the game out of reach. With the win, the Titans will have a first round game with division rival Port Perry, who won the regular season contest 22-13 over the Titans. The Cougars concluded their third consecutive regular season without a victory with their only win over the past three years being a first round upset over Notre Dame in the 2006 playoffs.
