This showcase captures how my direction and focus have taken shape during my time in the Honors College at IUI. When I joined in my Junior year, I had already been doing independent lab work and taking upper-level math, but I hadn’t yet committed to a long-term structure. These intention statements reflect where I was then, where I am now as a graduating senior, and how I got here.
I am statement:
I am someone drawn to underlying structures. I was studying physics and beginning to read theory independently, wondering whether research was something I could do seriously. I had already started experimenting in the lab and exploring upper-level coursework, but didn’t yet know how to frame it all. I wanted to find out whether the kind of thinking I naturally did could be formalized and developed.

Reflection: I didn’t yet know what I was becoming, but I was starting to test what might be possible.
I want to become statement:
I wanted to become someone who could think clearly about physical systems—not just through problem sets, but through original research. I hoped to build a track record of work that showed serious engagement with physics and math. I wasn’t sure where it would lead, but I wanted to do enough to find out.

H-200 Reflection
My original H-200 statement can be found under the ‘Goals’ section of this site. When I wrote the original H-200 statement, I had just started upper-level physics and math coursework and was exploring independent research for the first time. I didn’t know yet if I truly belonged in research, or what kind of structure I needed. Now, in 2026, I’ve not only completed a series of research experiences but also clarified my direction in theoretical modeling and simulation—shifting from wondering if I could do research to building my entire academic identity around it.

I’ve completed research projects that span spectroscopy, axon dynamics, and thermodynamic modeling. When I think about my journey through the Honors College, it doesn't follow a straight line.
