Connect Your Printer via Wi-Fi, Wired Network, or USB Cable 🚀
Easy HP printer setup and install guide. Unbox, install ink, download the HP app from 123.hp.com/setup, connect via Wi-Fi or USB, and start printing in minutes.
Take the printer out of the box.
Remove all tape, plastic, cardboard, and packing materials (including from inside the cartridge door and paper trays).
Plug the power cord into the printer and a wall outlet.
Turn the printer on.
On the screen (if it has one), select your language and country/region.
Install the ink or toner cartridges that came in the box.
Load plain paper into the paper tray and adjust the guides.
Tip: Keep the printer close to your Wi-Fi router during setup.
On your computer, phone, or tablet, open a browser and go to:
123.hp.com
(or start.hp.com / hp.com/start/install)
The site will detect your device (Windows, Mac, Android, or iPhone/iPad).
Download and install the HP app.
Open the app and accept the terms.
In the HP app, tap or click the + icon (or “Set up a new printer” / “Add Printer”).
Select your printer from the list.
Follow the on-screen instructions:
For Wi-Fi: Enter your Wi-Fi password when asked. Keep Bluetooth and location services turned on (on phones).
For USB: Connect the USB cable only when the app tells you to.
Wait for the app to finish installing the drivers and complete the setup.
Print a test page to confirm everything works.
Make sure your computer/phone and the printer are on the same Wi-Fi network.
If the printer is not found, put it into Wi-Fi setup mode (usually hold the Wireless button for a few seconds) and try again.
Creating an HP account is optional but useful for full features and Instant Ink.
Do not connect the USB cable too early if you want wireless setup.
