Learn more about your Bison spring sports! (Section written by Catherine Miller)
Girls lacrosse just had their senior night for graduating seniors Sadia Khan, Eleanor Ilderton, Jailyn Cochrane, Betzhida Perez, Swee Sorn, and Jilliann Turner. Congratulate these girls for their hard work and their endless goals this season. They won two games this year all with the help of their coach Ms. Kelly!
Men's lacrosse is also coming to an end with no graduating seniors. Congratulate Lewis Biesecker for most goals scored this season, and Jose Villatoro-Castillo for an outstanding number of saves as goalie!
Baseball scored a win against Smith the week before spring break, and the softball team won a doubleheader against Smith on April 24th! Girls soccer also scored their second win this season against Northeast on April 24th.
Riley Johnson qualified for regionals in men's golf! Men's tennis also finished strong with highlights from Martin Chladeck and Ayub Khan.
Our track team is finishing out the season competing in Wilmington at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational, so feel free to show up and cheer them on!
Enjoy some words about the lacrosse season from Mr. Sandoval!
"This year for Lacrosse has been absolutely fulfilling. The team this year is finishing out with 13 players, and they have grown so much! We have not had a men's lacrosse team here at HPC in five or six years so to get the team back and to complete the season is a true testament to the dedication the students have here. The other cool thing about the team is that we only had one senior player this year and the rest are underclassman. This is an amazing sign for us because that means we will get so much better as the years progress. Only two of our players have ever had experience with the game so to have completely new players who have grown so much is incredible.
I started off wanting to coach lacrosse because I played when I was in school. I have been looking for an adult league to play because I missed the sport and being active so when Mr. Hettenbach gave me the opportunity to Coach...I jumped in headfirst. I knew there was a hunger for the sport here and the goal now is to continue to grow and nurture this new desire. I would love to see the team grow to 25 players next year. We are going to be recruiting hard and letting everyone know, 'This Sport Is For You!'"
We have had an amazing year of sports Bison! With highlights from the men's basketball team, the swim team, and the men's lacrosse team. The Pointer is very proud of you all. To name some highlights: our basketball team went all conference, over ten people went to the regional swim meet this year (with one person advancing to the state level), and men's lacrosse had a team for the first time in years! Roll Bison!
