There are a variety of initiatives online dedicated to verifying information and tackling the issue of Fake News. See the links provided to some of these projects which may be of use.
FactCheck (Journal.ie): Ireland's only verified signatory of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) Codes. Established in 2016, it was formed initially to verify facts in local politics but has since tackled misinformation and disinformation in all aspects of Irish society.
FactCheckNI: Northern Ireland's only verified signatory of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) Codes. The non-profit group attempts to tackle misinformation through the publication of articles and by offering training initiatives.Â
Poynter: This institute is responsible for various projects dedicated to fact-checking including Poltifact, the Corona Virus Fact Alliance and the International Fact Checking Network.
Full Fact: This charity, based in the UK, hosts a team of independent fact-checkers who aim to tackle false and misleading claims made online by producing articles, creating reports and petitioning with campaigns online.
Snopes: One of the earliest Fact Checking sites on the web, initially formed to tackle the spread of urban legends online. The website publishes articles daily by independent fact-checkers and journalists discussing the validity of stories.
Google Fact Check Explorer: This is an initiative in development by Google to determine the validity of stories online. As it is a new project, it has some limitations but may be useful to fact-checkers.
