Liam Timmins
I am a third-year student at the University of Limerick studying Digital Culture and Communications with History.
For my internship, I wrote for the Ballinasloe LIFE Magazine producing dozens of articles for each issue released bi-monthly. I also studied at DMJX (the Danish School of Media and Journalism) for my Erasmus semester.
Qualifications and Expertise
As part of my degree in UL, I took various modules which focused on the verification of content and the dangers of Fake News. Similarly my semester at DMJX taught me on approaches taken to distinguish false information online.
I learned more about the dangers of misinformation and disinformation while working for Ballinasloe LIFE. When writing articles, I had to be mindful of my choice of sources and make sure they were authentic. Additionally as the Ballinasloe LIFE social media manager, I had to moderate the posts circulating on our feeds and the interactions we received on our pages.
