I do have a love for coffee if not an obsession. Over the last 5-6 years, I have used 4 different espresso machines, various coffee making tools and methods. Notes: If you want a stronger coffee taste I would suggest using a cold brew concentrate and playing around with the flavor until it suits your preference. Also, you could switch to a vodka base and cut the vodka back to 1-1/4 cups.
If brewing your own cold brew, do that at least 24 hours before starting to make the liqueur. Next, in a small saucepan, combine demerara sugar and water. Bring to a boil, whisking to combine. Turn the heat down to a simmer and continue to whisk until all the sugar has dissolved. Remove from the heat and let cool to room temperature. In a liter jar, combine cold brew coffee, syrup and rum. Seal and shake gently to combine. Let the liqueur sit for three days in a cool, dark place, agitating it every day. After three days, liqueur will be ready to consume.
I have used both Sunny Isle Jamaican Black Castor and Regular 100% Castor Oil (Cold Pressed). The Jamican Black Castor oil is much darker and much thicker then the regular version. The Regular "100%" Castor Oil is natural and has to be cold pressed in order to get the natural pale yellowish color.
Now here is an interesting fact about Jamican Black Castor Oil, it is not a completely "natural" product. In order to get that rich dark color, they add ash from roasted castor beans into the oil. So in truth, the dark color is achieved through ashes, and not because of being less processed vs the regular Castor Oil. Is there a benefit to the ash? Sunny Isle believes there is. Conclusion
I have used both version, and I can't tell the different as far as hair growth and uses, because they both do what I need it to do, and that is to soften my locks or to stimulate hair growth. Now the reason why I switch over to the regular cold pressed version was due to the smell of Jamaican Black Castor. You guys know how I'm about smells, and I had an issue with the smell of JBCO, which is smoky. I can't stand the smell of smoke, unless I'm at a BBQ, but my belly is about to be filled, so that doesn't count ^_-. I know they have scented ones now, but since I have tried the Regular Castor Oil, and find it to be just as good, plus it is odorless, I see no reason to change.
So do I recommend these products? Yes I do, but I would recommend the regular version over the JBCO, because it is not only cheaper, but also has no scent.
Please note that not all castor oils are made with the same method. Some use chemical solvents which makes it easier to extract. The clear ones are the result of filtering, which removes the iodine content, which remove the pale yellowish color.
