The Hover Horse band debuts with a blistering, soul-stirring work: Hard Twang, a four-track EP that leans into the raw edges of Americana over the melodic pulse and driving beat the band is known for.
Hard Twang is both a love letter and a middle finger to modern country — blending the distorted telecaster growl and the band’s trademark lyrical introspection, with the hard-driving rhythm section. Recorded under a full moon at Arch Studio with Lorrie Matheson, the EP captures the band in full throttle: stripped down, unapologetic, and chasing ghosts through dust and distortion.
Lead single “Rodeo Queens” sets the tone with a galloping beat and a chorus that howls like a coyote at dusk. Other standouts include the haunting “Commodore,” the ode-to classic country “Like Country Could’,” and the metal influenced “They’ll Be Coming At Night”, which turns the genre inside out with swagger and attitude.
“Hard Twang is what it sounds like when the wheels come off but the engine keeps running,” says frontman Christopher Lamb. “It’s sweat, dust, and stories — nothing polished, nothing fake. Just the sound of a band trying to outrun itself.”
Listen. Feel. Repeat. This is Hard Twang.
