Hough and District WI - 2026
Winning Strawberry verse by Catherine from our June 2023 meeting .
'There was a strawberry named Fred
Who steadfastly refused to turn red
'Til an unwary picker
Revealed lots of knicker
And that did the trick , so 'tis said '

Members Strawberry verses from our June 2023 Meeting :
Strawberries
I do like strawberries
but they don't like me
They make me all itchy
And very often twitchy
But hey not to be scared
Because with cream on who cares
English strawberries are the best
So have a dishful and put them to the test
Don't worry about putting on weight
They soon will be over don't leave it too late.
I Picked A Strawberry
I picked a strawberry
Growing in the sun
I washed it
I ate it
Then picked another one.
I Don't Like Strawberries
When you go down to strawberry fair
I'll be there eating a pear
I don't like strawberries ,they are not for me
The seeds get stuck in my teeth you see.
Don't get me wrong I love a soft fruit
Raspberries, blackberries and blue ones to boot
But I don't like strawberries , they are not for me
They often give me an upset tummy
So I hope you all enjoy your strawberries tonight
I'm sure the desserts will be a delight
Alas I don't like strawberries ,they are not for me
I'll just have a biscuit and a cup of tea.
