Basin Heat Flow Studies
Much of our research at the SMU Geothermal lab involves measuring heat flow and thermal conductivity in onshore/offshore sedimentary basins. These studies have been used to assess not only regional subsurface temperatures but thermal evolution and geothermal energy potential. Below are links to published reports associated with some of these studies:
- A probabilistic application of oil and gas data for exploration state geothermal reservoir assessment in the Appalachian Basin (Camp et al. 2017)
- Heat flow and Thermal modeling of the Appalachian Basin, West Virginia (Frone et al., 2015)
- Heat flow in the Lesser Antilles island arc and adjacent back arc Grenada basin (Manga et al., 2012)
