HOPE HOUSE

HISTORY

GIVING HOPE SINCE 1998

Once upon a time . . .

. . . there were seven men and one 3 bedroom 2 bath house on a hill in Athens, Georgia.

The year was 1998, and the men were named Gordie, Jeffrey, Donny, Harper, Lamar, Joey & Matt. Each one had a bad problem with alcohol and drugs; none of them had any success saying clean on their own. Together, though . . . together it was different.

Together, they were their brother's keeper, and together they managed to stay clean. Together, they managed to redeem their lives from the horrors inflected upon it in their abuse of alcohol and drugs. Together, these men who began as strangers, in time would became closer than brothers. Together.

The process by which they found recovery was seemingly caught in a jar, and it was turned into a seed which they planted. That seed sprouted, and it grew.

Thus was the Hope House in Athens born.

The seed they planted kept growing over the course of 20 + years until it has grown into what, today, is Hope House Recovery, Inc.

It would be incorporated in the year 2000 as well as move to its current location that year.

Twenty three plus (23+) years after those Seven Desperate Men came together, their legacy continues to live and thrive.

As a result, now others have the opportunity that was once denied men such as these.

Today there is a place for the still suffering addict or alcoholic who wants to do something different to go.

It is a place that gives HOPE, where once there was none. A place where there is "HOPE for the future".

It is a place where the promise of Jeremiah 29:11 is made true.
