MISSION:
The Hope Tree Project’s mission is to “plant seeds of hope, one child at a time” by providing requested gifts (clothes, shoes, coats toys) and necessities (supplies and gift cards for food) to identified students and their families in need at local CMS schools during the holidays. Our secondary mission is to provide hands-on opportunities for children in our community to help their peers by developing leadership skills and growing in empathy and understanding. Ultimately, the Hope Tree Project brings joy, smiles and HOPE to families in our community.
NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION:
The Hope Tree Project is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Your donation is tax-deductible. Our Tax ID Number is 99-3871864. 100% of dollars donated goes directly to the Hope Tree families.
IMPACT:
Due to generous support from our community, the Hope Tree Project has been able to support over 713 children/318 families over the past TEN years. Monetary value of donations is over $194,000 but the impact is priceless.
HOW IT WORKS:
The Hope Tree Project board members work directly with CMS school counselors and social workers who identify families in need in their schools. The recipients remain anonymous to preserve their dignity and privacy.
Parents/Guardians apply to the program and must meet certain criteria to qualify, such as attendance and school involvement. The program is not affiliated with any specific organization or religion, but an abundance of love and prayers from all faiths have blessed our community through the Project.
Each child is sponsored by a member in our community who donates clothes, shoes, a coat, toys from their wish list.
Other community groups donate gift cards for food and necessary supplies that are packaged for each family.
A huge Mingle Jingle party is held the week before delivering the gifts. This party is run by older children who have a passion for helping others. At the party, gifts are packaged in big reusable bags for each child and there are craft and stocking stuffing stations for all to contribute hands-on, regardless of age.
The days after the party, community members help deliver the gifts to the schools, where families come to pick them up before the winter break.
