Supervisor capability and Research Orientation
I am:
A Mechanical Engineer, and
Industrial Designer with a
PhD in Social Science.
I currently work on funded research projects focussed upon health innovation. At Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre my projects (2017-2020) focus upon improving the quality of life of people with Cancer.
All my Research Projects
Current Research
PanSupport: is to design & develop a supportive care network for people with Pancreatic Cancer, and
Older and Wiser: is to design and develop a support ecology for older people with Cancer. At Alfred Hospital my focus has been on solutions for Cystic Fibrosis patients.
Honours Project: Method
As an Honours project supervisor I set up access, for students, to work within organisations to understand the current challenges and the desire for a changed future for the people they serve.
I facilitate students to be embedded within organisations – such as being embedded within Alfred Hospital, to design technological solutions for Cystic Fibrosis Patients.
I help students apply for and secure ethics approval for their research.
I help students to learn the Experience Based CoDesign framework as the key way to practice evidence based design.
To then develop technologies, products and services in the health sector.
I have helped students to complete their written research report (BOOK) in the first half as a contribution to the host organisation, and then to build their solutions in the second part as a prototype they would like to realize.
I have focussed upon supporting students to realise their project solutions as patents, ventures and startups.
