For the perfect lay.
For day-use.
The hammock was a lot of work, but is fairly straightforward. It's just a rectangle with two tubes at the ends, where a loop of rope slides through. This gathers the ends and that is essentially all a Gathered End Hammock is.
I added tie-outs along the edge, and little triangles at each end to help with the shape of the hammock. Together these make it so the sides stay high - kind of like a boat - and your center of gravity is diagonal to the direction of the hammock. This counter-intuitively makes you lay flat, so you don't get uncomfortable at night.
Lastly, I added a removable asymmetrical bug net that mimics the shape of the hammock when set up ideally, so it helps it keep its shape more easily.
