Warranty Home Inspection

5 things to look out for Warranty Home Inspection.

In the construction industry, we all know that warranties are essential. They protect homeowners, contractors, and subcontractors alike. But did you know that when it comes to home improvement projects, some warranties aren't worth the paper they're printed on?

Here are 5 things to look out for Warranty Home Inspection.

1. What Is Included in the Warranties?

Warranties come in different forms. Sometimes they cover specific parts of the project, like roofing materials. Other times they cover the entire house or property. And sometimes they cover only certain aspects of the project, like landscaping.

2. Does the Contract Include All the Details?

It's important to read the fine print in contracts, but especially so when it comes to warranties. Be sure to understand exactly what the contractor is agreeing to provide. For instance, does he agree to fix the leaky pipe or replace the roof? Will he also remove the wallpaper? Or will he just repair the damage?

3. How Long Do I Have to Pay the Contractor?

Some warranties require monthly payments over a set period of time. Others allow you to make lump sum payments. Ask yourself if you can afford to pay the amount required upfront. Also, ask yourself if you'll still owe money after the project is complete.

4. Can I Cancel My Contract Before Completion?

Most warranties give you the right to cancel the agreement within a specified number of days. However, some may specify that you must continue making payments until completion. If you decide to back out, try to negotiate a refund of your last payment.

5. Who Has Insurance Coverage?

You should always assume that the contractor is insured. But if you find out otherwise, you may be able to sue him for damages.
