1. Read the account of the Passover in your Bible - Exodus 12:1-28 – (Remember this tells about the 10^th and final plague sent by the Lord to free Moses and the Israelites from their slavery in Egypt.) Answer the following questions as you read:

3. What kind of animal is sacrificed?

4. Describe the kind of lamb suggested by God: (verse 5)

5. Describe what happened on the evening of the 14^th day, both to the lambs and their blood (verses 7-8)

7. Why did they eat unleavened bread that night? (Remember, when you put leaven in bread you must let it rise over a long period of time.)

12. Why is the Passover celebrated? (verse 14)

15: Read Mark 14:12-26 (Remember that this reading comes toward the end of the life of Jesus - just before he is betrayed, arrested, beaten, and crucified on the cross.)

16. During what Jewish religious season did the Lord’s Supper begin? (verse 12)

17. Describe the room in which the Lord’s Supper was first held? (verse 15)

18. What kind of meal was the first Lord’s Supper? (verse 16)

19. What was the time of day when the meal was eaten? (verse 17)

20. Who was present at the meal with Jesus? (verse 12 & 17)

21. Were there sinners among those who were present at the meal? (verses 18-20)

22. What did Jesus say about the bread? How did what Jesus said about the bread, during the meal, change the meaning of the meal? (verse 22)

23. What did Jesus say about the wine? How did what Jesus said about the wine, during the meal, change the meaning of the meal? (verse 23)

24. For whom is the blood of Christ shed? (verse 24)

25. After the meal was completed, what did the disciples do? (verse 26)

26. Read what St. Paul writes about Holy Communion in 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 (Notice that Paul writes that Jesus also included the words “for you” when instituting the Lord’s Supper.) Does it make a difference to hear these words knowing that Jesus meant you too?
