Meridians (Energy Flow Path) or Nadis:
In the human body, the life energy (Qi) flows continuously and steadily through specific pathways. These energy flow pathways are called meridians. In Ayurveda, they are known as nadis.
Organ Meridian or Organ Channel:
(Energy flow path of organs or the channel of organs)
The energy flow path connected to different organs of the body is called the meridian or channel of that organ.
For example, the energy flow path connected to the heart is called the heart meridian.
There are a total of twelve organ meridians in the body:
1. Lungs Meridian
2. Large Intestine Meridian
3. Stomach Meridian
4. Spleen Meridian
5. Heart Meridian
6. Small Intestine Meridian
7. Urinary Bladder Meridian
8. Kidney Meridian
9. Pericardium or Circulation or Brain Meridian
10. Triple Warmer or Triple Heater or Spine Meridian
11. Gall Bladder Meridian
12. Liver Meridian
These twelve meridians are present on both sides of the body (bilateral). Besides these, there are two extra-ordinary meridians:
1. Governing Vessel or Dumo Meridian
2. Conception Vessel or Renmo Meridian
These two meridians run along the midline at the back and front of the body and are unilateral.
