Cast lists updated 12/17/24
Please respect the 24 hour blackout period from Wednesday morning to Thursday morning. No texting or calling--even between best friends--no posting on social media about the casts and roles. PLEASE READ THIS NOTE BELOW WITH YOUR CHILD BEFORE YOU LOOK AT THE CAST LISTS. REALLY FOR REALS. THE WHOLE THING:
A note about casting: We LOVE each individual child who comes in to audition. Collectively as a production team, we know and have worked with nearly all of them in one way or another. We are so proud of each child for practicing, being determined enough to get the information to their parents, and brave enough to stand in front of strangers and sing and act. In order to try and reduce our own biases, we invited three judges who do not know any of the kids to auditions. We took the judges' scores and added them together, and we "blind casted" the leads and supporting roles of the show first, meaning we do it without looking at the names associated with the scores. Then we matched the scores to the kids' names and made adjustments based on students' strengths, personalities, and grade. We aim to give every 6th grader as big a role as their scores merit, since it's their final year at Holbrook.
In the end there can only be two Annas and two Elsas, two Hans, and two Kristoffs, two Olafs, etc. We deeply care about each child's hopes; we have spent over 15 hours in the casting process, talking together about each child's role and trying to give each person who auditioned someplace to shine. We mourn for each potential disappointment. Parents, please be respectful of your child's emotions, help validate them, and give them time to process whatever they are feeling. Whether or not your child got the role they were hoping for, praise them for being brave enough to audition. Students, please recognize that every single character and line, and ensemble member is important to telling our story. You ALL matter to us, and you ALL matter to the show. Feel what you need to feel, then come back to school Monday, ready to give your all to your part and do your very best. Recognize that your friends are going through a whole range of emotions, and be sensitive to those who are celebrating and those who are not. We can't wait to see you all on December 6th for our read-throughs! Let's go!
