For this project, I had to research Cyber-Security that has been in the news and I should evaluate my sources by answering questions. I also did Cyber training before doing this project and I earned a certificate.

This article is talking about how Australia's second-largest telecommunications company, Optus, had a cyber-attack. Cyber-attack means any offensive maneuver that targets computer information systems, computer networks, infrastructures, or personal computer devices. In this cyber-attack people’s personal information was hacked including names, dates of birth, phone numbers, email addresses, and ID document numbers such as driver’s licenses or passport numbers. Customers of Optus have suffered from this attack since their information has been hacked. Unauthorized access to accounts can be prevented by tightening the app's security settings, using strong passwords, using multi-factor authentication, and encrypting the network.

Hackers created a fake news website to harvest data from Australian government officials, journalists and others. The targets received emails claiming to be from Australian news outlets, which linked them to a malicious website. Malicious websites are created to steal data and plant malware such as ransomware. We can prevent this by not clicking links in emails that look suspicious or checking site security and encryption.

Part of this project was to take the CCBC Cybersecurity Training and in order to earn the certificate you have to pass all the assessment with 100% accuracy.

Lesson Learned
I learned that there are many dangers and risks to being online and having your document or personal information saved on your computer. I didn’t know what cybersecurity meant before but now I know what it means. By taking the Cyber training I learn different cyber attacks and how to protect yourself from the attacks.
