Cheese Toasties
at The Milk Churn
7th May
5 Howlers joined up for an impromptu run down to the Milk Churn in Rudgwick and a cheese toasty. Charles insisted the cake wasn’t for him – he’s looking very guilty!
HOWL at the
Wiltshire Rally
May 1st-4th
HOWL headed West to the Wiltshire Rally. 4 Howlers set off for a truly enjoyable long weekend at The Woodbridge Inn, Pewsey. A great pub with lovely food and proper ales.
Well organised ride outs through scenic countryside, and a canal side coffee stop.
Brain-taxing quizzes and lighthearted silly games – the Jenga had everyone collapsing. A chance to catch up with old friends and make new ones.
HOWL Pizza evening
at Ryka's
29th April
A midweek Rykas bike night - organised by Simon and Karen at short notice tempted 8 HOWLers out for pizza and chat.
Never seen it as busy!! - the display of bikes was most excellent!
Live music there as well. The new owners have certainly put a huge effort into building the venue up more and more.
All home safe just before sunset with full stomachs.
HOWL at the Pinewood Cafe
Biker’s Bring and Buy
28th April
As the light evenings lengthened, Howlers had a chance to empty their cupboards of excess bike gear
– Simon and Karen especially, were on a roll.
Sustained by several coffees and sausage baps, we fended off the hagglers and actually did brisk business flogging bike trousers, jackets, miscellaneous bags, indicators and even a Trolley Jack
Anne did a passable impression of a panto horse, modelling her bike cover, but alas there were no buyers.
STAFFORD CLASSIC BIKE SHOW
April 25-26th
We had a great day out doing a reccy at the Stafford Classic Bike Show to suss things out for our HOC Club stand there at their October Event. The October event on 10/11th focuses on Classic motorcycles, particularly Japanese from the 1970s–1990s era.
Several hundred trade stands and autojumble plots galore will keep classic bike enthusiasts happy at this spectacular show.
With shed loads of club stands, private entry displays, the Classic Racer GP Paddock, Competition Hall and live stunt displays all mark this show out as something special.
On-stage interviews with racing legends and the famous Bonhams auction add to the atmosphere.
Do come and join us there and enjoy this very impressive show – over 900 club and trade stands, autojumble plots, auctions, racing legend interviews etc.
A special Celebration Club Night
23rd April
14 HOWLers met at The Magpie for chat and celebration and cakes! We wished a happy Anniversary to Peter & Nicole for their 40 years together. And also, a happy birthday to Anne for her upcoming big birthday. She invited the branch to carry on celebrating with her at the weekend with a lively party which literally went off with a bang.
Lots of chat and chomping.
Caterpillars
abounded!
HOWL Dine at the Devil’s Punch Bowl
22nd April
10 HOWLers made the most of the sun with a winding ‘scenic’ route to Devil’s Punch Bowl. – We were delighted at our meeting place when two Kwakas rolled up – what a lovely surprise to have young Faith and Simon along too!
We always find that the bikes which will attract most interest will be the non-Hondas, whatever their make or year.
Royal Armouries and
Mick's Monster Burgers
19th April
12 Howlers met up with military precision from three different start points for a visit to The Royal Armouries at Fort Nelson, overlooking Portsmouth Harbour.
The Armouries (free entry) are built on a restored Victorian fortress packed with artillery from across the world. Highlights include a 15th-century Turkish bombard cannon, a gigantic 200-tonne railway howitzer, and the infamous ‘Big Babylon’ Iraqi supergun.
Beforehand, on Portsdown Hill, with its spectacular views, we savoured the delights of Mick’s Monster Burgers.
Cindy had to watch out for the pesky seagulls!
A great day out!
HOWL enjoy a Good Friday
3rd April
Seven from West London joined in with the 450+ bikes collecting 1624 Easter Eggs for the Berkshire Egg run in aid of local children’s charities. We met up with Mike G at the Pinewood Café for breakfast before riding on to the start point in Reading. Gary, Cindy and Morgan, looked very chic(k) in their costumes
Thousands of eggs were donated
Anne won first prize for her duck costume even if the organiser did announce her as wearing an ostrich outfit!
