Due to frequent closures and exceedingly low water levels in the last few years, Fleet 48 hasn't camped at Storrie Lake, near Las Vegas, New Mexico, in several years. Below is an 2025 update on conditions.

Update August 2025 - water levels are back to traditional high waters. The photos below are from the beach (primitive camping) and boat-launching area. A little bit of gravel/sand with a sandbar just off-shore - but plenty of lake!

Historically Storrie has great westerly winds coming down off the mountains headed for the plains.
Some shallow areas exist, typically well marked with hazard buoys.
Camping and boat launching right on the beach!
IMPORTANT NOTE: Entrance to park closes at 9 pm in summer and may vary - always check!
Only 5 minutes from town - restaurants, hardware, etc.
NOTE - bathrooms closed 2025 but porta-potties are next-door.
you can go eat in town but don't stay out late!

Turn left, go under freeway
~0.3 miles turn right on Legion Dr.
