Cochiti Lake State Park does not allow shoreline camping like other New Mexico lakes, so we typically use it for day sailing. There are three launching sites: 1) main boat ramp, 2) "Tetilla Beach", and 3) Tetilla boat ramp. Overnight tent and RV camping is available, but it is not near either of the two ramps or Tetilla Beach shorelines, and you cannot leave your boat just "beached" and tied down. You can leave your trailered boat overnight in the ramp parking areas or you can trailer it back to your campsite.

Driving to Cochiti Overview

To Cochiti Lake Main Boat Ramp

I-25 – exit 264 “Cochiti Lake”

West on state-18 approx. 4.5 mi to state-22
Right on state-22 approx. 3.8 mi to Park turn-off
Right into park – follow signs to boat ramp (approx. 0.9 mi)

Day-use fee $5 - pay at park entrance
Boat Rigging Area for raising masts before you get to boat ramp
At the ramp, there are gravel beach areas immediately left and right of the ramp. There are picnic tables and bathrooms, and people hanging out. Be aware that launching and landing requires hull protection and, at times, crowd vigilance.
ABSOLUTELY NO BOATS allowed at the official Recreation Swimming area further south.
NO ALCOHOL. Park Rule, as the lake sits on Cochiti Tribal Lands.

Camping in main park

There are several loops of camping above the boat ramp (not walking distance)
Some campsites are 'pull-through' suitable for RVs with boat trailers - be careful with selection and get recon or satellite info to be sure space is suitable for length of your rig.
