Information for Pastors

Has a member of your church asked you to attend a Camino weekend?

Have you heard about Camino weekends and have questions?

Are you a pastor who has been to Camino, and would like to invite other pastors?

A couple of things you need to know --

  • Camino is a lay-led movement. In all aspects, layleaders work closely with clergy who have attended and work weekends.

  • Within an inter-denominational setting, our Statement of Faith and Essential Tenets guide who we are as a Christian community.

  • Because we support the relationship between laypeople and their pastors, in order for a lay person to attend a weekend their pastor must have first attended a weekend or they can attend at the same time. We do this because Camino can have a dynamic impact on a person's spiritual life, and it is important to us that the pastor understand why.

  • One purpose of Camino is to build church leaders. Attending a Camino for the first time, and more importantly, by working Camino weekends, men and women have opportunities to try out leadership activities, roles and responsibilities -- such as praying aloud for somenone, choosing and reading Scripture in a group, working with a team, leading one of the many teams with specific weekend tasks, advance preparation and planning, preparing and sharing a portion of their testimony of God's work in their lives within a given topic outline and timeframe, worship song leading, etc -- that can equip them for expanded service in their home churches. Leadership roles on Camino weekends change with each weekend, giving a broad range of participants the opportunity for leadership.
