We are going to virtual orchestra Monday 3/30/20! Here's the class code for High School Symphonic Orchestra
Children of HS orchestra, sorry to pull you away from the 5th season of Vampire Diaries. There is much uncertainty in regards to school.
But it seems likely 3rd quarter grades will be stored soon. It is also possible we will be virtually learning soon.
Assesmentwise, Orchestra is well suited for this. But there will undoubtedly be higher scrutiny as to how I grade the rest of this year.
Some of you who have benefited from “fudging” but I won’t be able to do that this time around. So, make our lives easier and COMPLETE SMARTMUSIC AND FLAT PROJECTS TODAY!
I will video perform the best “Jig!” Flat assignments with my children’s help. I have decided not to create new Smartmusic quizzes for now but may create a Flat.io if we are to go virtual.
Although the world is in serious crisis let us look to George Caztanza for guidance(this is my Vampire Diaries and sorry for potato quality, the words are most important). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKUvKE3bQlY
I will post my arrangement of Dance Monkey for string orchestra soon.
Email me if you have questions or can't finish anything.

Spring Concert Music 2020:
To be more specific:
I have commissioned a new piece from Chickasaw composer Jerod Impaachchaachaaha' Tate. (I finally learned to spell it!) His clan animal is the raccoon; this piece is all about raccoons. (Title: Shawi Impanah, or 'Coon Talk.) It opens with the Chickasaw Raccoon Song--a pretty straightforward tune. (I may start by playing for your students a 5 second recording of his tribe singing it. )
Anyway, there are three places where Tate wants listeners to make sounds that mimic the paws and teeth clicking of raccoons, and in some cases their spirits/ghosts. We will rehearse those spots before doing the piece. For about 40 m in the middle of the piece, the audience snaps with their fingers. (Softly would be great...and likely! I am playing pizz during that.) You could just hold up your hands and demo to get them to do that. At another place, to imitate spirits, the audience whispers the word "Chatter", randomly, not coordinated with each other, over and over. You could just cue them to start and end. And at the end of the piece, right after the last note, audiences are supposed to yell "CHATTER!" over and over while clapping.
