Prescription hearing aids used to be susceptible to moisture, which could damage the devices. It was suggested to wear a hat in the rain and remove them when exercising. For most prescription hearing aids that is no longer the case. In fact, many models can tolerate being submersed in water for a short period of time.

We recommend purchasing OTC hearing aids that have at least some level of moisture resistance.

Also, hearing aid providers usually recommend purchasing a hearing aid dryer. We recommend buying a dryer but check that the OTC hearing aid is compatible with it, especially if the dryer has a heater.
