Level Up
Level Up is a new professional development project supported by the British Council and implemented by Hippo ELT. Level Up is a second-cycle initiative with a single, focused ambition: to transform outstanding participants of the Teaching for Tomorrow: Building Stronger Classrooms and Stronger Teachers project into skilled, confident, and independently operating teacher trainers. Where the first cycle invested in classroom teachers, this cycle invests in the people who will develop them, creating a self-sustaining engine for professional growth in English language education across North Macedonia.
The project is built on a clear understanding of what sustainable development actually requires. One-off training programmes, however well designed, tend to fade. What lasts is local capacity, the presence of trained, experienced trainers embedded in their own professional communities, capable of identifying needs, designing responses, and delivering high-quality development in their local context without ongoing external support. Level Up exists to build exactly that.
In-Person & Online Sessions
Training and delivery will run across four cities in North Macedonia with the first session coming up in September, complemented by online sessions via Zoom, ensuring teachers everywhere, in urban and rural areas alike, can take part regardless of location or schedule. The sessions are open to all teachers of English in North Macedonia, however, the number of participants for in-person sessions is limited.
Designing a Teacher Trainer Toolkit
Our trainer candidates won't just learn; they'll create. Working through a write-pilot-revise process, they'll build a Teacher Trainer Toolkit: a set of practical, reusable facilitation guides mapped to TeachingEnglish themes, designed to support trainers for years to come.
Lesson Plan Contest
Teachers are invited to submit their own lesson plans as part of a nationwide competition, with 6 winning entries recognised and celebrated.
National Showcase Event
The project culminates in a National Showcase in March 2027, where trainer candidates will deliver independently assessed sessions, receive formal certification, and celebrate contest winners, alongside the official launch of the Teacher Trainer Toolkit and lesson plan publication.
