Green Flag - Community Award

The Hillsborough Walled Garden was awarded a Green Flag Community Award in 2023-4 when the Friends of Hillsborough Park applied on its behalf.

The Hillsborough Walled Gardeners decided to apply for a Community Green Flag award in 2026-7 and have recently submitted all of the information that was required for the application.

We also apply for assessment under the RHS Yorkshire In Bloom award scheme. While some of the requirement for the two awards are similar, the RHS assessment tends to focus on the garden planting and the Green Flag Community Award requires more information about how we plan to manage the Walled Garden. As such, it is a good tool to help a community group clarify what it plans to do in a formal manner.
