About Our Clinical Services
Our Division is charged with overseeing the gastroenterology and hepatology care for the underserved citizens of Alameda County. We are dedicated to our clinical mission and continuously strive to provide accessible, compassionate, high value care to our patients and referring providers. The vast majority of our patients are referred from either our own Alameda Health System providers or our partner providers of the Community Health Center Network.
Our Division is administratively and clinically based at Highland Hospital and oversees one of the busiest specialty services within Alameda Health System, receiving approximately 550 new consults per month. Our Division does not have oversight over the GI services at our sister hospitals San Leandro Hospital or Alameda Hospital.

Endoscopy Unit at Highland Hospital
The Endoscopy Unit is located on the 5th Floor of the Highland Care Pavilion on the Highland Hospital Campus at 1411 East 31st Street, Oakland, CA 94602. Paid parking is available in the Highland Care Pavilion. Our hours are 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday.
The Endoscopy Unit at Highland Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility that houses 3 endoscopy rooms and 10 prep/recovery beds. Our unit performs approximately 3000 procedures per year, serving both outpatients and stable inpatients.
Procedures performed at our unit include:
Colonoscopy
Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)
Flexible Sigmoidoscopy
Wireless Capsule Endoscopy
Paracentesis

At current time, interventional endoscopy procedures (ERCP and Endoscopic Ultrasound) are referred out to our partners at UCSF, John Muir Medical Center, and Sutter Health's California Pacific Medical Center.
Gastroenterology and Liver Clinics at Highland Hospital
