“The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him, and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself, too.” — Samuel Butler
HCK is located just outside of Bozeman, Montana. We live on a ranch with over 350 acres of land for us, and our dogs to enjoy. We go pheasant hunting sometimes, and the dogs always get to come with us to play in the water on lake day in the nearby rivers. And of course, everybody gets inside time to chill out an relax with the family.
We like to say that it all started when we got Brownie from Hunters Point Kennels. In fact, we loved him so much our dogs are all from Hunters Point Kennel in Marshalltown, Iowa.
Anyway, before we got Brownie we had a dog named Charlie who was a lab we picked up who was not from a reputable breeder, he was never bred or used as a stud anyway. Charlie was our Farm dog at the time, he was a English Lab that was always getting into trouble while he was still at the puppy stage.
Charlie was a chocolate lab, with a white spot on his chest. His little spot always made Charlie special, and every time we get a chocolate puppy with a spot we think of him.
Charlie went hunting often and tried his hardest. But, as Charlie got older and we began to have kids he was the "Babysitter Dog" always licking spaghetti or cheerios off of the floor that our toddlers dropped. When we got Brownie as a puppy, Charlie was 8-9 years old and it was the perfect time for Charlie to teach Brownie some manners and how to be loyal and obedient even at his puppy stage.
After all of that, we went hunting with Brownie quite a few times and we knew we had something special. Brownie was the sweetest dog ever and really helped us to get through putting down Charlie. After getting Brownie some hunting, dock dive, and rat games titles we figured that we had something going for us and started HCK. Today, all of our dogs have hunting tiltes and we are producing quality litters.
We are a family owned, family run, Breeder. Our kids are always there from birth to the time you take your puppy home and they are always paying attention to the way they grow and help to condition them on the ranch. Our kids are now 12 and 13 yrs. old and are a huge help to the operation.
