Back in the '90s I saw at the ROC National a fox with a hood. The owner had just bought the Fox, and wanted to run it as a van for his work, so was bemoaning the fact that he wanted a hard-top...
As I was intrigued by the idea of a drop down hood for my red estate for summer trips, and also happened to have a spare hard top, we decided to do a swap. A friend with a Fox estate rather liked the result so we had the frame and hood copied. The hood frames and the hard tops both fix to the body with 'over-the-centre' catches, so are hot-swappable from hard to soft or vice-versa in about 3 minutes.
Many years later, I own both vehicles, both have been hit in road accidents requiring the sourcing of new body-shells! I have both soft-tops and frames in my workshop and am open to offers if anyone can make good use of them.
I would point out that the second one, the copy, cost several hundred to have made, so, while I don't expect to get the full price back I think they have to be worth more than a handful of peanuts!
