These pieces of work are meant to be realistic representations - not hyper-real, but I intended them to be easily recognisable in terms of their colours, shapes and textures.
Whilst this isn't my favourite style to paint in, I do like the challenge it involves.
I have always been fascinated by reptiles and particularly the idea that the crocodilians have remained unchanged in general form for thousands of years.
Another art class challenge - using a gold background as the medium tone and adding lighter and darker tones with white gouache, charcoal and black ink.
One of the challenges here was to decide how much detail to include!
This is a commissioned painting - the recipient was very pleased with it; she loves Red Panda's.
I'm very pleased with the dappled shadow on the path in this painting. In our art class we were working on painting shadows, and I think I nailed it here!!
This is my first artwork using oil paint. I used a sgraffito technique to achieve the effect that I wanted.
Before painting this I addd texture to the surface, which I think adds to the overall effect.
This is a reproduction of a small section of a church wall. It was another Art Class challenge, and I was really pleased with the result. It's a watercolour background with white gouache and brown watercolour on top.
This is a pastel drawing. I find pastels hard to use, but I think I rose well to the art class challenge!
This piece of work is on a silver scraper-board.
