The township has officially adopted most of the roadways in Hickory Ridge. However, the partial roads or "stubs" of Beech Ridge and Powder Ridge Lanes have not yet been adopted. Despite this, the township has an agreement with U.S. Home Corporation to plow those areas. As a result, all roadways in Hickory Ridge will be plowed by the township this season using tax dollars. Residents are asked to remove all vehicles from the streets during snowstorms to ensure efficient plowing. Please note: vehicles left on the road during snow events may be ticketed by the township.
Trash/ Recycle Bins: Homeowners may store up to one trash bin and one recycling bin on the side of the house, even if they are partially visible, as long as they are kept neat and well maintained. Bins should not be placed in the front yard areas including porches, steps, driveways, walkways, lawns, in front of garage doors, or in landscaped spaces as this is considered a violation.
This guideline reflects a compromise within the community, balancing visibility concerns while allowing practical storage options. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping keep our neighborhood clean and attractive. (Trash/ Recycle Bin Rules)
Snow Removal: Residents are responsible for snow removal on sidewalks adjacent to their property. Your HOA dues do not cover this. Conewago Township Ordinance #306 requires snow/ice to be removed within 30 hours after the snow or sleet has ceased to fall. The pathway cleared shall be no less than twenty-four (24) inches in width.
Architectural Request: Architectural requests must be completed and approved prior to construction. Requests to add decks, patios, sheds, fences, major landscaping etc. must be submitted via AppFolio. Please provide details such as materials used, dimensions, colors, and setbacks. Sketches and pictures are extremely helpful in expediting the process. Township permits and/or impervious surface applications are still required for these types of projects. (Architectural Request Rules)
Landscaping and Exterior Improvements: Routine landscaping such as planting flowers, shrubs, or trees, adding mulch, and placing small decorative items is welcome and does not require prior approval. Approval is only needed for larger projects, such as retaining walls, large trees, or any changes that could affect drainage. (Landscaping Rules)
Children’s play equipment, including items like trampolines and swing sets, is allowed without prior approval, as long as all community guidelines are followed. (Children's Play Equipment Rules)
To help protect our shared environment, invasive plant species are not permitted. A list of prohibited species is provided in the Third Amendment to the Declaration, and homeowners are responsible for removing any invasive plants on their property. (Invasive Plant Species Rules)
Thank you for helping keep our neighborhood safe, attractive, and enjoyable for everyone.
Pet Owners: Please be a responsible neighbor. Clean up after your pets and ensure they are always leashed. Respect your neighbors' properties, as not everyone in the community may be a pet lover.
Drivers: The speed limit in the neighborhood is 25 mph. Please adhere to this limit, but consider driving even slower, as children are often at play. Imagine how you would feel if you accidentally hit someone's child. Think ahead and slow down for everyone's safety.
Proxies: If you are unable or unwilling to attend an HOA meeting, please complete a proxy form to help the HOA maintain a quorum (the minimum number of homeowners required to conduct official business at any given meeting). Submitting a proxy allows your attendance to be counted even if you cannot be present, and you may designate another community member in good standing to vote on your behalf. Proxy forms are mailed to each household prior to each meeting and are also available and can be completed electronically on this website under the “Meeting Attendance” menu.
Neighbors, thank you! Together, we voted to make positive changes in our HOA rules. This is a big step towards more freedom, less restriction, and a community that better reflects the people who live here.
Your voice mattered, and you made a difference. This win shows what we can accomplish when we all take part. Voting statistics are listed below.
We're excited to announce that Hickory Ridge Mews now has an official online community forum on Reddit!
This private forum is a space for residents to:
Stay informed about HOA news and updates
Ask questions and share ideas
Participate in neighborhood discussions
Connect with committees and volunteer opportunities
Access is private, residents will need a Reddit account and must request to join. Please send an email to the Board email address indicating who you are and where to live within the community as it is difficult to verify residency by Reddit usernames.
If you'd like help getting started or have questions, feel free to contact the HOA Board. You'll find the subreddit link in the "Links" section of this website or simple click the green and white HRM subreddit logo.
Let's stay connected. See you in the forum!
