Home Learning Challenges
Don't forget to share your learning with your teacher on Seesaw!
Design a machine that moves and label it. Explain how it works
Design and build a vehicle with moving parts using materials from around your house (Lego, cardboard boxes…)
Design a board game based on a theme of your choice
Practice your musical, dance, drama, art talents.
Use sewing and stitching skills to make a decoration or toy
Design and/or make a model of your dream house or a tree house
Plant something and take care of it
Make a 'perfume' using flowers from the garden
Make a bird feeder
Plan and prepare at least two meals for your family
Stay connected: phone a relative, friend or neighbour
Design your own challenge!
Life Skills
Practice tying your shoe laces
Learn how to style your own hair
Follow a recipe and help whānau to make it
Help out by learning how to do the laundry
Do the washing up after breakfast and/or dinner
Make a shopping list
Help put the dishes away
Learn how to change a tyre (on a car or a bike!)
Learn how to sew a button
Practice riding a bike -can you ride without training wheels?
Reading
Listen to your child read at least once a day.
Read to your child as many times as possible. You could read story books, poems, songs, recipes
Talk about what happened in the story e.g. What was your favourite part? How would you feel if you were the main character?

Writing
Year 0-3
Write a story every day. Encourage your child to write all the sounds they hear as they write unknown words. Write in a writing book or on Seesaw.
Practice writing high frequency words every day. These are found on the word cards shown below. Begin with list one and two then work through in order.
Practice letter formation / handwriting each day. Write the lowercase letters of the alphabet.

Rote count (count forwards and backwards) each day
Say the number before/after a number
Add sets/numbers together and take away
