October
Hey, Quick Recap!
Hey, Quick Recap!
Can you believe it is the end of October already?! It has been half term break, from October 18th till November 2nd, meaning everyone on campus is gone. The boarding house was extremely quiet, and while I enjoyed a few rest days throughout break, I also found a lot of things to explore and do since I had so much time off!
It sure feels like fall here, with much colder temps and the clocks went back on the 26th!
Where I've Been:
Paris- School Trip (October 17th- 21st)
Gosport- Rugby Tournament (October 25th-26th)
London- Mens Basketball EuroCup Game (October 29th)
Highlight of the Month: Seeing new places beyond Winchester! Exploring beyond Winchester has been easy and affordable thanks to the opportunities in my community. Here, holidays are meant to be enjoyed, and I’m making the most of them while still living simply. I’ve helped on a school trip as pastoral and special-needs support, traveled with my team to my first rugby tournament, got a London Lions ticket and even caught a t shirt at the game!
New Favorite Thing: Writing Poems! This is one of the hobbies I have really picked up and enjoyed in my free time over break. I have always enjoyed writing for course assignments as well as reflective writing on my own life's experiences, but poems have pushed me to be extremely intentional with how I want to share something without having to use all my words.
Learning: To give it to God, more willingly! See bible verse choice below :)
Bible Verse for the Month: Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight"
I chose this verse because the Paris trip reminded me how much I struggle with letting go of control, especially in a school setting where I’m used to leading and feel most confident in my skillset. On this trip, I wasn’t seen as a teacher or decision-maker, just an extra set of hands. It was hard not to step in when things weren’t organized the way I thought they should be.
But being in that uncomfortable space helped me realize that everything doesn’t have to go my way for things to work out. God still shows up. And trusting that has taken a lot of pressure off my the mindset I have built up in the last few years. This verse is my reminder to keep surrendering my need to control and let Him guide the path.
