Hey, Quick Recap!
Hey, Quick Recap!
I had my final Womens Touch Tournament with my Winchester team, we took second! I also had a blast being part of the huge Winchester Rugby Club end of season event! I was placed on an intergenerational & mixed touch team for this, the Ali Baba's Touchy Thieves was our name. You had to have at least 2 women on the field playing at all times (there were only two of us so I had lots of playing time!) and at least 2 under 18s on the field playing at all times. It was really fun experiencing playing rugby with so many people that share the same love for the game but even more so celebrating the community WRFC creates.
Last Sunday, June 28th, Rev. Wallington and I partnered with the local Soroptimist Women Organization to host a picnic for the local refuge center. Women and their children came to St. Swithuns to enjoy food and spend time with one another outside in the nice weather. They were able to choose from hygiene products and kids toys to take with them. One of my roles was recruiting boarders to come and play with the kids, I was so impressed by the girls' efforts and success for creating a safe and friendly environment to keep them engaged and give the moms time to themselves. While there are no pictures to show, it was still a memorable and important day to share.
I have been enjoying the fresh air over lunch time as I continue to ask big questions to the prep school girls! This continues to grow more and more involvement with there RE (Religious Education) teacher's lessons.
Our YAGM UK cohort had our final retreat together by staying in the town of Ambleside. We spent the weekend in nature, crafting, resting and reflecting on our year
One of my recent projects was to change the Chaplaincy Board for the new year school! The teacher side of me loves any task like this, and I thought it turned out nice.
I chose this theme because it will be the focus of Rev. Wallington's final sermon here at St. Swithuns when we have our Valedictory Service in Winchester Cathedral the last day of school. It was fitting to leave a message tied to him and I thought the interactive piece that I added will carry on and encourage others to leave a positive mark as well.
I had the opportunity to chaperone a trip to the New Forest with some of the younger year groups. It was a joy to be out on the Beaulieu River with them! They put great effort into working together in the canoes, although the most focus seemed to be on their song choices for singing while "rowing"... but at least I got a great arm workout in the back by trying to keep us in the right direction! Great views, lots of laughter, it was a day filled with contentness.
This art installation at Winchester Cathedral is part of a country- wide project that aims to inspire compassion and understanding migrants and refugees. The Diocese of Winchester collaborated with over 150 Church of England Schools to make this display happen! Students created colorful luggage tags and adding poems, Bible verses, quotes, or personal prayers and reflections.
