The objective of the course is to provide an introduction to modern theories of macro (microfunded theories of macro). We plan to do it with direct reference to the macro problems, issues, and specificities of development macroeconomics.
The strategy is to introduce a simple model for a small open economy that we can use to analyze the data and the news. In the process we will discuss the core building blocks of modern macro theory: consumption, investment, public sector and monetary policy.
Take home exam with in-person presentation + discussion (60%). Groups of 3.
Continuous evaluation: homework + class participation (40%). Groups of 3.

Presentations: May 20th, starting at 10am (I will assign a time slot for each group)
Submit your paper between May 10th and May 13th.
Find a news/blog discussion piece or similar that discusses issues related to macro and analyze it with the tools (models) discussed in this class.
The object of study of the exam should be related to an emerging economy + macroeconomics (in this way we cover the objective of this class + the overall orientation of the master)
