If you are a full member of Liverpool Guild of Students (ie., a full time undergraduate, postgraduate or PhD student at the University of Liverpool studying any subject), you are able to join the Herdman Society, for free, as a full member.
You are entitled to fully participate in all Herdman Society events, stand for and vote in committee elections and attend and speak in our annual general meeting (AGM).
You can do so on our page on Liverpool Guild of Students' website by clicking here.
The Herdman Society is a student geology society affiliated with the University of Liverpool and Liverpool Guild of Students. Liverpool Geological Society is a distinct organisation for the benefit of all professional and amateur geologists in the Liverpool area, however we are proud to cooperate very closely with the LGS.
The Herdman Lecture Series and the LGS Lecture Series run back-to-back on a Tuesday to ensure LGS members and Herdman members can attend both if they wish. LGS and Herdman members are mutually invited to each other's events. Additionally, the LGS has generously sponsored the annual Herdman Symposium for many years and subsidises the attendance of LGS members.
The LGS additionally funds three student awards for general academic excellence for students in Geology, Geology with Physical Geography and Geophysics.
Membership of the LGS for students costs £5 per year, with a reduced subscription between 1st January and 30th June. Details for joining the LGS are linked below.
We welcome everyone who is interested (in particular, alumni, UoL and LGoS staff, current and former staff and students at other Universities, A Level Geography, Geology and Environmental Science students, members of the Liverpool Geological Society, GSL and GA) to subscribe to our mailing list.
This is a fantastic way for those who are interested to learn about all upcoming society news, updates and events, network and meet up with old peers and colleagues.
