The photo of me on the left uses a recolour tool in Photoshop combined with a photo of dried up dirt to make it look like I am poisoned or suffering some kind of alien infection.
In the second image I recoloured areas of this photo and incorporated images like the dryed dirt and also teddy bear ears to give her a creepy and cute look like a porcelain doll from hell ( or a nice kind of demon).
The image on the left was an experiment with shapes. When I took the picture I imagined something like 'The Iron Giant' to be peeping over the horizon so I created this image based on that Idea. I wanted to make the robot look old and mistreated. The right image is intended to be connected to the poison picture so its like the scene of the poison starting to kick in. All have been created using photos manipulated using photoshop.
These space images are based on retro space comics. I really like the bright colours they use and the strange environment, so I tried to create a space scene using different effects and photos I took of rocks and plants from around my local surrondings. Zaz was an early design for a jazz album cover. I wanted to include it as I drew the image and then edited it on in photoshop to neaten it and to experiment with the HSL tool for different colour effects.
Each of the black and white images on the left have been altered using a recolour tool. The textures added are greaseproof paper and in some cases denim. I did this to experiment trying to make photos look old without too much of a filter. The first image is a mixture of my own images that I thought would look good together to make a strange scene. The photo of the fairy’s is similar but not for the one with the romantic couple that’s just an image I made for fun to make it look as though my friend and I were an old couple from the past.
Similarly I collaged the images on the right using different scanned images to create strange scenes but with a more colourful and pink colour palate.
I have used various techniques for these images, lino, polyblock and screen printing, acrylic paints, charcoal, oil pastels and chalk, as well as magazine and paper collage. I wanted to see how much I could manipulate an image using these different media.
Magazine covers always interest me in the way they look so I designed some which featured my friends and I. This let me experiment with laying out text on images.
These are illustrations and sketches of me or at least a version of me. For example, the image with lots of characters are me as different characters from books and TV. The image if the boy in the rain is a version of me when I was younger with my favourite toy.
