Current Residents

The Pharmacy Residency Programs at Hennepin Healthcare have 13 residents in total. Please see below for the biographical and contact information for the 2023-2024 Pharmacy Residency Class at Hennepin. 

Karen Alderete Herrera was born in México and raised for most of her life in the Twin Cities. She earned her B.A. in biology from St. Catherine University and Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of MN-TC campus. Karen is completing the PGY-1 Ambulatory Care focused residency. Her professional interests include diabetes education, oncology, and providing competent equitable care to underserved populations. Outside of pharmacy you can find Karen dancing, weightlifting, and spending time with family outside in the Minnesota snow.

Tuyet Lien Do Lam is originally from Logan, UT, where she earned her BS degrees in biochemistry, biology, and economics. She went on to the University of Utah College of Pharmacy for her PharmD degree. She is currently completing the PGY1/2/MS HSPAL residency with interests in medication safety, drug information, academia, and anticoagulation. In her free time, she enjoys trying new restaurants (foodie!), spending time with family, painting, gaming, hiking, and traveling.

Ryan Steiger is originally from Owatonna, Minnesota. He earned his bachelor's degree in Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development from the University of Minnesota and received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. Ryan's professional interests include Emergency Medicine, Oncology, Internal Medicine, and Leadership. In his free time, Ryan enjoys fishing, exploring Minnesota state parks, playing soccer, skiing, and cooking.

Alexandria Lewis was born and raised in Zimmerman, Minnesota. She went to undergrad and pharmacy school at the University of Minnesota - Duluth. Her current interests are mental health and substance use disorders and breaking the stigmas associated with them. In her free time, she enjoys playing board games and cards with her husband, friends, and family as well as traveling, hiking, and being a dog mom to her German Shorthair, Tucker.

Alberto Aranda is originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison before receiving his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. His current areas of interest include emergency medicine and psychiatric pharmacy. Outside of pharmacy, he enjoys exploring cafes and breweries across Minneapolis, playing music with his band, and hiking with family and friends.

Josh Vergin is originally from Eagan, Minnesota. He received a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center – College of Pharmacy. His professional interests include solid organ transplant, infectious disease, and clinical teaching. Aside from his pharmacy interests, Josh enjoys anaerobic/aerobic fitness, watching Minnesota professional sports teams, cooking, and spending time with friends and family. He is eager to be back in his home state to continue his professional and clinical training.

Ali Sherbanenko is originally from Champlin, MN, and earned her bachelor's and PharmD from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. I am excited to explore different areas of pharmacy throughout residency such as critical care, infectious disease, and cardiology. In my free time, I like to hang out with my cats (Strawberry and Mia), run/bike along the Mississippi trails, and paint."

Megan Parries is originally from St. Cloud, Minnesota. She earned a bachelor's degree at the College of St. Benedict and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. She recently completed her PYG-1 at Hennepin and is excited to stay on for her PGY-2 year in solid organ transplant. In her free time, she enjoys spending time at her family cabin in northern Minnesota, checking out local breweries, and walking or running the paths by the Mississippi.

 Der Lor is originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and completed her PGY-1 Pharmacy residency at Hennepin Healthcare. Der will be continuing her training as a PGY-2 Internal Medicine resident. Her interests include cardiology and transitions of care. On her free time, she enjoys trying new restaurants, taking long walks, and spending time with her family.

Jennifer (Jen) Spadgenske is originally from Aitkin, Minnesota. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota and completed her PGY-1 Pharmacy residency at Sanford Health in Fargo, North Dakota. Jennifer will be completing a PGY-2 in Critical are with professional interests including Medical ICU, emergency medicine, and teaching/precepting. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, hiking, boating, and finding new favorites at local breweries.

Joe Camacho is originally from Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. He completed his acute care PGY-1 pharmacy residency at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island and is currently completing a PGY-2 critical care residency at HCMC. Joe's professional interests include trauma intensive care, emergency medicine, and medication safety. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family & friends, playing all different types of sports, being on the water, and trying new places to eat and drink.

Katie Glass is originally from Bemidji, Minnesota. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) and completed her PGY-1 pharmacy residency at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN.  Katie is completing her Critical Care PGY-2 residency at Hennepin with professional interests that include emergency medicine, infectious disease, and precepting/teaching. In her free time, she enjoys reading, being active outdoors, traveling as much as able, and baking.

Regan Truttschel is originally from Delafield, Wisconsin. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology and Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Regan completed a PGY-1 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency here at Hennepin Healthcare and will be continuing on as the PGY-2 Ambulatory Care Resident. Professional interests include primary care, diabetes, and teaching/precepting. Outside of pharmacy, she can be found hiking with her dog, boating, exploring new breweries in Minneapolis, and spending time with her family.
