Hennepin Healthcare Pharmacy Residency Programs

The Pharmacy Residency Programs at Hennepin Healthcare are postgraduate training programs that center on outpatient and inpatient care, the transition of care and pharmacy practice leadership and management. Residents will learn to enhance patient outcomes in the critical care, hospital, community pharmacy, Poison Center and ambulatory clinic settings. The transition of patient care between the inpatient and outpatient settings is emphasized in all areas of the health-system.

Caring for the low-income, uninsured and vulnerable population enhances clinical knowledge alongside compassion, respect, teamwork and adaptability.

Applications

The application deadline is Tuesday, January 2nd, 2025.

Eligible candidates must have a Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited school or college of pharmacy and be eligible for Minnesota licensure. Interested candidates must be registered with National Matching Services Inc. and application materials need to be completed and submitted within the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS).

Curriculum Vitae
Personal statement or Letter of Intent
Three letters of recommendation using the standard PhORCAS template. These letters should include information about the candidates independence, dependability, communication skills, assertiveness and motivation.
Pharmacy transcript from an Accreditation School or College of Pharmacy

In addition, successful completion of an ASHP-Accredited PGY-1 Residency Program is required for entry into the Solid Organ Transplant, Ambulatory Care, Internal Medicine and Critical Care PGY-2 Programs.

Salary and Benefits

Hennepin Healthcare offers a competitive annual salary and benefits to all pharmacy program residents, including individual health insurance, dental insurance, vacation days, project days, professional days, parking and a reimbursement stipend for travel to professional conference(s).

The annual stipend for the current PGY-1 Residents is $55,000 with an additional $2,250 for conference attendance. The annual stipend for the current PGY-2 Residents is $59,000 with an additional $3,000 for conference attendance.

Resident Safety and Wellbeing

Hennepin is committed to patient and employee safety. Vaccination is required for all employees, physical distancing is endorsed and personal protective equipment (PPE) is required on campus.

R.I.S.E. (Resident Integrated Support Environment) Program

Hennepin Healthcare has launched the first pilor program in the Twice Cities area to address the health and well-being of medical and pharmacy residents. The Resident Integrated Support Environment (R.I.S.E.) Program addresses the mental, financial, and physical health needs of residents by offering integrated support

Resources offered through R.I.S.E. include:

Onsite mental health and primary care
Sleep assessment and treatment for sleep deprivation
Medical error disclosure open-door policay and support system
Advocacy and Empathy
Welcoming, nurturing, and open communication
Confidentiality

Hennepin Healthcare also offers robust mentorship and peer support through:

Project preceptor/mentor support
Formal staff and PGY2 mentor support
Residency Program Director Support
Peer / resident support (i.e. open resident lunch once monthly, resident comradery events, and form chief resident support)
