Born on the 4th October, 1984 in Barking, Essex (UK), Vijay has been a fan of news and current affairs since the tender age of five. His earliest memories of being a news consumer was sitting in the living room with his parents, watching the Six O'Clock News, then hosted by such luminaries as Moira Stewart, Peter Sissons and Matthew Burke, and news events such as the breakup of Yugoslavia, the fall of the Berlin Wall and the beginnings of the European Union following the Maastricht Treaty. He was renowned for his appetite for reading, from local papers and comics to broadsheets and even the backs of cereal boxes. He dreamt of working for the BBC or a major newspaper.

A decade and a half later, Vijay graduated from the University of Westminster in London with a 2:1 BA Honours degree specialising in Journalism and Media Studies. Although subsequently unable to break into the cutthroat competitive world of journalism, Vijay continued to breathe new life into his writing talents by starting HEM News Agency in 2012. Since then his blog has gone from strength to strength, attracting the attention of fellow bloggers and PR companies, which has led to several successful commissions in the past few years. The blog has even enabled Vijay to begin a fascinating role as a writing consultant, producing materials like brochures and even the entire copy of the website for the consultancy he secured the role with. The blog has been a door opener for many opportunities.
