The handset features a large round button at the top with a cluster of three small buttons located beneath it. From the middle area there are also long textured ridges running down either side that mimic 'volume sliders' and when stroked adjust the volume level while conveniently displaying an on-screen slider bar.
Most of what the buttons do is pretty straight forward - however there may be a couple of "not so obvious" things you should know about.
The large button at the top is the main control for navigation and selection.
The outer bezel ring can be pressed at the edges in any of the four directions to Navigate
menu options on screen. e.g. Up / Down / Left / Right
The solid inner part of the button is used to Select a given option.
Beneath this there is the cluster of 3 smaller buttons with multiple functions :-
Triangle: The primary use of this button is to move backwards through previously selected menu options. It also has a secondary use that works when positioned on the Home screen [near the top with no items selected] which you can by double clicking to display a 'power control' menu from which you can choose to put the device into sleep mode.
Circle: The primary use of this button is to jump back to the Home screen immediately from whatever sub-menu location you happen to be at, which is a lot quicker than using several presses of the triangular button to do the same. It also has two other uses when positioned on the Home screen [1] press once and hold down will cause it to display a list of the most recent screen visited which allows you to quickly return to a screen you have previously been using, and [2] double click to display a sub-menu giving you access to a number of other settings and functions.
Microphone: This button is pressed to activate voice input whenever available.
