The device is configured with 8Gb of internal storage. However due to the space required by the operating system, and some preinstalled Apps, this reduces the actual spare capacity for use down to about 4.4Gb. Depending on your requirements this may be o.k. but it is not an awful lot of for installing more Apps [or any kind of data] you may want to have. The solution to this is to get an external USB storage stick and configure it to be used as expanded internal storage - see explanation below.
Using an external adaptor and additional devices can greatly improve the capabilities of your Chromecast with Google TV.
Click here to see a device at Amazon that was available for £20.99 [@ 20/11/2020] which is a lot less expensive than some of the 'all singing and dancing' adaptors featured in videos that can cost 3 or 4 times this amount.
Although this adaptor provides power input/output [along with ethernet connectivity, HDMI and 2 x USB ports] when using it with the power supply that comes with the Chromecast with Google TV there is insufficient wattage to drive everything.
Ethernet connection
When attempting to use the Amazon connector for an ethernet connection [alongside other USB devices] it does not work. Indeed with just the ethernet cable plugged in and connected to the router the 'power drain' adversely affects the overall performance of the device and is not recommended.
So if using ethernet is key for your set up you will probably need to invest in a better quailty adaptor.

USB 'internal' storage
However when connected with only a 32 Gig USB 3 inserted [formatted as FAT32 - exFat does not work] there is enough power for it to be recognised and used as 'internal' storage.
Simply follow on-screen prompts to reformat the FAT32 USB drive to 'internal' storage, making an additional 30 Gig available, and take the option to relocate some of the already installed Apps from the 4.4Gig of real internal storage.
For further information on this matter see the section below.
Video conferencing
Similarly if using a web cam / microphone, with Apps like Google Duo, there is sufficient power available to drive their audio and video.
Click here to see a section of a video that shows the presenter using a 30Gb USB thumb to make more storage available to the dongle, via an external USB connector / adaptor [see bottom of page] that provides flexibility for managing power / ethernet [if applicable] and external storage on a range of physical drives. Once connected the USB storage can remain as external [removable, and therefore still shareable with other computers], or it can be configured as device storage in which case it is reformatted and essentially becomes part of the Chromecast dongle's extended hardware and can not be shared.

Click here to see USB storage adaptors at Amazon [similar to what is featured in the video] that range from around £25 but ensure that they are advertised as working with devices such as Chromecast whereas some, usually cheaper, models are not.
The video goes on to cover Jailbreaking and Sideloading which are also featured in the Apps page on this site.
The video also mentions lots of other useful resources that are listed on the Sites page of this site.
Click here to see a section of the video, about 4 1/2 minutes in, that explains how to move data between the original internal storage and the device storage that has been configured for use on an external USB drive.
Click here to see another section of the video that explains how to implement a virtual mouse which can be really useful for navigating Apps that were designed for a smartphone / tablet interface.
