Labels: Histories, Intricacies and their role in our lives

Labels have been a part of the queer community since the beginning. They have and continue to grow and evolve to best meet the needs of the community.

But what about their service to the queer individual? Labels are moldable facets of our identities, and can have a unique meaning that differs from person to person that are shaped by our experiences and being. While labels have their standard definitions within the community, this doesn't mean that a person's own experiences can't shape their identity and relationship to a label as well.

The queer community is fluid and accepting of anyone who differs from the heteronormative societal standard. Making it the perfect place for this wide range of experiences and identities to exist in harmony.

A definition is not what shapes or defines your personal queerness. You are the master of your own experiences and how they come together in your life.

Within the queer community, there is no specific way to be or experience queerness. To the most specific microlabels, to the most abstract experssion, they are all uniquely queer and all uniquely welcome.
