Educator + Curriculum Designer + Facilitator
Helen is a Hunkpapa Lakota educator, writer, and professional learning facilitator based in Tucson, AZ. Originally from North Dakota, she is an enrolled member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. She holds a Bachelors of Arts in economics, public policy, and education from Dartmouth College, and a Masters of Education in Elementary Education and Teaching and Masters of Arts in Indigenous Education from Arizona State University. Helen is committed to culturally sustaining pedagogy that affirms Indigenous peoples and Native Nations in the classroom and heals intergenerational trauma. She believes that Indigenous Knowledge Systems hold the power to transform teaching and learning for all students. She has facilitated virtual workshops for international audiences regarding these topics.
