Students must attend 6 hours of driving and 6 hours of observation during the Behind the Wheel experience.
Within behind the wheel experience, students will be expected not to have their electronic devices unless they have permission to. Sometimes, they may have permission if it pertains to an activity that they are to do.
Students in the observation portion of behind the wheel will have activities to work on along with observing the experiences. These activities are not for a grade; however, the activities are for the benefit of practice, repetition, and generalizing. Each activity has its importance and is not just 'busy work'.
All students will be driving the vehicle provided by the Hebron Public School.
For students who enroll as out-of-district students in the program, Hebron's vehicle will be used.
Hebron is very lucky, especially in respect to their placement in the state. There are many driving opportunities around! Experiences the students will be exposed to are in-town driving, driving on gravel roads, highway driving, interstate driving and city driving (Dickinson and Bismarck). Students learn a lot of skills!
