I am a fully qualified teacher with a B.Ed Primary (Honours) who is qualified to teach ages 3 to 14. I am currently working towards my Masters in Education and have completed modules in Inclusion, Leadership and Critical Reflection.
I am fully registered with the General Teaching Council School and have an up-to-date PVG check.
I have 15 years of in class teaching experience. For the last 8 years I was teaching in an International School in Germany, where I worked as a grade 2 and grade 3 teacher before being promoted to Assessment Co-ordinator. I have recently returned to Ayrshire to pursue my dream of developing a private tutoring business supporting vulnerable learners.
I have been private tutoring for 8 years. In this time I have supported primary and secondary students in overcoming academic difficulties. I have provided tutoring in primary English, Maths, Science, Geography and History. Additionally, I have provided early secondary tutoring in English, Maths, and Science. I also have experience in tutoring IGSCE and IB students in Biology, French, English as well as study skills and exam preparation.
I travel to your home. I find that the familiar environment helps settle anxious learners and helps them to feel in control of their learning. Additionally, at home tutoring fits in with the hectic family life, removing the need for travel and allowing you to get on with other things .
I also offer online tutoring for those who find this approach more convenient.
One on one tuition allows your child to be at the centre of their learning. Their own personal needs and learning preferences can be addresses and the full hour is dedicated solely to their progress. Working in this way allows the curriculum to be tailored the child, rather than making the child fit the curriculum. My approach focuses on learning and progression at the child's individual level, ensuring they get the attention they deserve.
The price for one hour is £30. One or two sessions per week is recommended, however my approach is flexible. It is important that private tutoring meets the needs of you and your child. Thus we can develop a schedule that suits.
Yes I do. It is also possible to schedule additional sessions during the holidays. Continuing tutoring during holidays is beneficial, reinforces routines and helps children see learning as a part of life.
I understand that sometimes it is not possible to attend a session. This is not a problem.
