Why Built by Her?
Hi, my name is Heather and I created Built by Her because I want as many women as possible to see and feel the benefits of lifting weights. I am not being dramatic when I say the lifting weights changed my life, I found weight training through CrossFit and it was love at first squat
After years of trying to get lean by doing endless amounts of cardio, countless back to back Les Mills classes and more spin classes than I’d care to admit to it was an absolute revelation when I discovered weights and the missing piece of the puzzle
I spent 6 years competing in CrossFit and I was the fittest I had ever been during this time BUT it was only when I stopped CrossFit and started to follow a progressive strength and hypertrophy programme designed to build muscle rather than be good at CrossFit did I see the biggest changes in my body. Using machines, learning about technique, form, how to lift slowly and with intent…. I saw my body transform within a couple of months!
It was exciting, motivating and made me feel so f*cking capable! This is something I want to share with as many women as possible
Built by Her was born because I want women to feel like they belong in the gym, to take up space on the cable machines and not spend all their time on the treadmill and playing with the light dumbbells.
