Pre-Frailty Classes
Pre-frailty refers to a stage where an individual is at risk of becoming frail but has not yet reached full frailty. It’s essential to recognize this stage early to prevent adverse outcomes. There are some indicators of pre-frailty which includes poor dynamic trunk stability, lower limb strength, balance, foot sensation, being underweight, pelvic floor problems, and inadequate nutrition.
Health Promotion Board have 2 programmes specialised in takling these issues.
Steady Lah!
12 week frailty level specific programme.
Focuses on 30mins health education topics mainly on exercises, nutrition, falls recovery and 1 hour of Strength Balance and Flexibility exercises.
Participants must go through a screening criteria to be able to enrolled into the programme.
Enrolment criteria includes gait speed of 0.9m/s to 1.1m/s and CFS (Clinical Frailty Status) of 3-4 to be enrolled.
These exercises are customised to fit the specific needs of the participants to provide a meaningful improvement in terms of functional status.
HAPPY
12 week frailty level specific programme.
Focuses 1 hour of dual task exercises which includes cognitive and physical task done at the same time.
Participants must go through a screening criteria to be able to enrolled into the programme.
Enrolment criteria includes gait speed of 0.7m/s to 0.9m/s and CFS (Clinical Frailty Status) of 5-6 to be enrolled.
These exercises are customised to fit the specific needs of the participants to provide a meaningful improvement in terms of functional status.
