Buffalo is a largely racially divided city as a result of Redlining in the 1930s. Chronic disease, sexually transmitted disease, gun violence, access to food, and substance abuse disproportionally affect select groups of people. Majorly affected communities include African Americans and other minority populations.
Our Mission
We aim to improve overall health equity in Buffalo, NY by targeting three huge public health problems - redlining, food insecurity, and gun violence. We plan to do this by maintaining various informative platforms to achieve increased participation in key organizational efforts, increased access to resources for those in need, and overall increased awareness of the causes of health inequity in Buffalo.
Our overarching goal is to decrease the prevalence of food insecurity, gun violence, and redlining in highly affected communities by at least 10% before 2030.
